USING POLAR PRODUCTS IN RESEARCH

Find out how Polar technology and services can be used for research and science. Our technology and products have multiple capabilities which can be applied in research, including heart rate and heart rate variability measurement, physical activity and online monitoring, measuring of energy expenditure and assessing of aerobic fitness.

Polar technology has widely been applied in both academic and industrial research projects and validations. This is evidenced by over 1000 science papers annually. Polar products are also referred as a reference device or as an actual research equipment.

Polar technology provides researchers with an affordable, high-quality and easy-to-use option to carry out physiological, sports scientific, and medical studies for large test groups. The standard connectivity, such as Bluetooth, Wi-fi and API interfaces enable easy data transfer from Polar devices to your systems.

Polar H10

Polar H10 is a state-of-the-art classical heart rate measurement sensor comprising a chest strap and a transmitter unit. Polar H10 is designed to be used by top athletes, thus tolerating harsh conditions, such as sweat, electric disturbances and motion artefacts.

It is equipped with built-in memory and can be used online as a conventional heart rate sensor for heart rate and RR intervals with standard Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity. Furthermore, an SDK (Software Development Kit) is provided to enable access to online raw sample data, such as ECG and 3D acceleration. An example data logger application is available for Android to show you the principles of an application that you can create yourself.

Polar OH1

Polar OH1 is a coin-sized optical heart rate sensor with built-in memory and SDK connectivity. The standard Bluetooth Low Energy protocol enables you to connect Polar OH1 to any Bluetooth device equipped with standard Bluetooth protocols and record heart rate and PP intervals for your purposes.

The state-of-the-art optical measurement gauge enables you to measure PPG (photoplethysmogram) from any part of the human body where skin contact is possible. An SDK is available to develop an app to retrieve online raw PPG and 3D acceleration from the sensors. An example data logger application is also available for Android.

Polar M600

Polar M600 is a first-generation smartwatch by Polar, built on the Wear OS operating system by Google. Polar M600 is equipped with internal API, which provides you with access to a high-quality PPG sensor, 3D accelerometer, gyroscope, GNNS positioning technology, Bluetooth and Wi-fi, for example.

It provides you with a powerful tool to collect data generated by the integrated sensors, or to use as a data hub for external sensors which you can connect to the watch over Bluetooth. The Wi-fi connectivity provides you with the freedom to collect data anywhere and transmit the data to any server system over the Internet. The Wear OS gives you freedom and instructions to program the device according to your preferences.
