Sustainability

Polar is committed to making the world a better place by helping its clients enhance their health and wellbeing and constantly improving its products and business to become more sustainable.

Polar thrives on making long-lasting products, recycling and collecting old products, and      making sure that the packaging material is recycled globally according to local rules and legislation. Polar owns the end-to-end development process of all its products, driving each innovation across the lifecycle: from research to concept, product development, launch, and continued optimization.

Polar owns and manages two factories, Polar (Guangzhou) Electronics Co. Ltd in China and Polar Electro Malaysia (M) Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia. Third-party audits ensure and improve the working conditions and sustainability in our factories.

CLIMATE

Polar is currently looking into measuring and monitoring our impact on the climate and how to move towards a carbon-neutral future.

ENVIRONMENT

Polar holds strict control over its operations. It pays attention to its products’ environmental aspects and impacts throughout the product’s life cycle, from development and manufacturing to delivery and customer care.

Environmental issues are included in the early stages of new product development and material supplier selection. The majority of the products are manufactured in Polar’s factories, and the main suppliers are situated within a close distance in order to minimize transportation. Polar Electro carefully manages the supply chain from key material suppliers to retailers to ensure that environmental aspects are considered.  Polar Electro requires that its first-tier material suppliers adhere to the same requirements.

Moreover, we also request that first-tier suppliers seek the same commitment from their respective suppliers. In 2020, Polar’s facilities in China were awarded with Guangzhou Excellent Level Clean Production Corporation status, honored by Guangzhou Industry & Information Bureau + Guangzhou Ecology & Environment Bureau.

Polar Electro continuously develops its materials and production processes in order to reduce scrap and waste. This also ensures that the products are manufactured using materials which are safe for people and the environment. Consumers can send their Polar products to any Polar Electro repair centers for reparations when reparable. Old devices can be returned to retailers for recycling within the EU, and consumers can send old devices      to a Polar Service Center for recycling outside of the EU.

As Polar products are electronic devices, they are in the scope of both the Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament and the Council on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). The batteries and accumulators used in products are in the scope of Directive 2006/66/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 September 2006 on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators. These products and batteries/accumulators inside Polar products should thus be disposed of separately in EU countries.

Polar encourages its subsidiaries to minimize possible effects of waste on the environment and human health also outside the European Union by following local waste disposal regulations and, where possible, utilize separate collection of electronic devices for products, and battery and accumulator collection for batteries and accumulators.

Polar uses recycled materials where it can, including certain wristbands. Polar is constantly looking into new possibilities to increase the use of recycled materials in its products when they can fulfill the requirements needed for long lasting and high-quality standards for the purpose and safety of use.

Polar offers a 5 -year product support service to its customers including necessary software updates.

Polar offers its customers a repair service and spare parts for its products. There are also user product manuals available online.

Polar offers an extended warranty on all its main products up to 2 years.

Polar also guarantees the original consumer/purchaser that their Polar product will be free from defects in material or workmanship for two (2) years from the date of purchase, with the exception of wristbands made of silicone or plastic, which are subject to a guarantee period of one (1) year from the date of purchase.

HUMAN RIGHTS

Polar is committed to respecting human rights across all its operations and is evaluating the impact of its operations on human rights on a regular basis in order to minimize any risks that might occur. Polar is committed to the WFSGI Pledge and its requirements and has been using it to audit the factory in China.

Polar prohibits the use of child labor or forced labor across its operations. We arrange all legally mandated benefits for employees and ensure safe working conditions. We do not discriminate in recruitment and employment practices; we support equal employment opportunities.
